It all started with a Farm House

I knew i needed a life change. What i didn't know, was that this perfect, most absolutely awesome, amazing farm house would be the beginning of my new life calling.

I was in love. Madly deeply out of my mind in love.

{With a house}

So i quit my 2-hour commuting high stress job, packed up my house in the "city" and moved my family to the middle of a corn field.

The house is nestled on 300 acres in West Virginia dinga linga ding dang country. Built in 1850something, I imagine it was occupied by civil war settlers or something cool and historic like that. It was renovated in the 1980's. I have been told that it was a complete reno job, but they managed to keep some of the original structure.........

The stone wall separates the dining and living room. The "chinking" surrounds the north side of the home. I love this kind of construction. Not only is it just super cool looking, but it is strong as nails...................

This is the entry foyer. I call it the "South Wing" because it is cool to have a wing. I feel like a princess or something. A farmer princess. A farmcess.

{I am a farmcess} .....................

I think i will paint. The risers and trim are painted an awful baby poop color. Both light and dark versions of baby poop. I am just not a fan of baby poop. I'm thinking black for the steps and handrails; white for the risers, trim and balusters. Right now i have nothing on the walls. I think I will fill it with framed photos. That will only take forever, but thats cool. I have time because i am unemployed.

{Because i am awesome}....................

{Living Room} ...................

{The other living room} .................

{Master Bedroom = Humungopants} ..............

This is another room. It could be used for a plethora of reasons. I decided to turn it into a closet. A gynormous closet. I have no idea how to spell gynormous. So i will spell it like that. ........................

Second Bedroom - directly across from the master on 2nd level ........................

This is the last room of the upper level. At first i thought this would be a guest room. But the stinkbugs have decided they are cool enough to have a room, plus there is a creepy door to the attic, so im not sure if my guests will want to sleep in a room filled with ghosts and stinkbugs. Regardless, my husband has decided to only furnish this room with free stuff from Craigslist because that would be fun. We will see how that goes.....................

The entrance to the property. I was sold at the gate..............

View of the land from the sideyard..................

This is the sidehouse. It looks haunted like there is no tommorrow. I think it was for the servants back in the day. There is an outhouse on the other side. I plan to get some chickens and use part of it as the coop......................

This is the ridiculously oversized screened in porch!! There are 2 entrances to the house and to the left is a huge outdoor patio {seebelow}.................

{crazypants amount of space}...........

The barn is so creepy and amazing and i love it. If there was ever a perfect setting for a horror movie, it would be this barn. When the wind blows, the siding makes scary loud banging noises. Half the ceiling is missing and underneath is an abandoned cow/pig house filled with old poo.

I have no idea if the barn is structurally sound or safe or haunted. But it is cooler than any barn i have ever been in. Actually this is the first barn i have ever been in.....but i plan to make it mine and i will turn it into an art studio.

{A poo filled, pig haunted, structurally un-sound art studio} ....................

  1. You had me sold at color of baby poo! Thanks for sharing. That place is awesome. I think I would go crazy on a farm--but, who knows. I'd probably just grow buckwheat, so I could say I was a buckwheat farmer..and then i'd drink a beer.

  6. My family has property in the Mountains of West VA about an hour outside of Snowshoe Ski Resort. You have to go about a half hour down a twisty gravel road to fine the property; which is nestled in straight up po-dunk West-Jesus no-where. The property has a cabin (which we built) at the top of a hill overlooking a valley, a mountain range, a cow pasture, and a big-ass cave mouth. My family is in to spelunking. How far from Snowshoe is your delightful farm?

  10. Love the Honest diapers for my newborn. This particular box was returned since my baby grew out of this stage. Amazon has a great return policy. I had to call customer service for a question and the rep was really helpful. I'm happy with the experience.
